Hi, Rachel - I saw you on the Channel 4 show about conspiracy theorists that was on this morning. Crazy, crazy loons - the TfL top brass were in the same room as me trying to deal with what happened when the bombs went off, rather than arranging a trashed bus and a huge supporting cast to cover their tracks...
Largely agree with your concerns re: Boris. I don't think we're in for a good time.

We're not quite that bad yet but it sometimes feels like it can only be a matter of time...
I take it that's from a station in Tokyo? When one of my friends was there a couple of years ago the trains ran something like every two minutes. Any longer and the platform became dangerously overcrowded ...

Yep, that's Tokyo. I used to live on the most crowded train line in the city, and it was genuinely scary - you'd be so packed in you'd think it was totally impossible for anyone else to get on, but then at the next station another 20 people would be pushed into the carriage, and another 20 at the following one. You quite literally could hardly move a finger.
The good things about Japanese commuter trains, though, are that they're air conditioned, spotlessly clean, very frequent, and on time to the second. I always find it hard to readjust my expectations of public transport when I come back to the UK.
After watching this I am so glad I travel by bicycle in Amsterdam.
